Profile of Lecturer: FRED TAM, MPHIL (MMU), CFTe, MSTA, ACCA.

Mr. Fred Tam is a well-known stock and futures market analyst, trader, author, columnist and public speaker among the Malaysian investing public for over 25 years. He is the author of five books on the Malaysian stock and futures markets. He was a regular columnist for the Malaysian Business magazine, Nanyang Siang Pau, Business Times of the New Straits Time and Berita Harian.

Mr. Fred Tam also contributed articles on the stock/futures markets to Investor Digest, Bankers Journal, China Press, Sabah Times, Daily Express, Sarawak Tribune, Shanghai magazine, Malaysian Tatler, Personal Investor magazine (Singapore), Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities magazine (United States) and Omega Research magazine (United States). He has conducted numerous professional courses and seminars in association with the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), the Research Institute of Investment Analysts of Malaysia (RIIAM), the Kuala Lumpur Commodity Exchange (KLCE), Malaysian Investors Association (MIA), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Multimedia University (MMU), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), FELDA, Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis Club, several major stock broking firms in Malaysia and the Singapore Remisiers Association. He was one of the organizers and a speaker at the ‘Market East 1995’, the 1st World Technical Analysis Conference held in Kuala Lumpur. He is the founder of the Malaysian Association of Technical Analysts. He is member of the Technical Analysts Society of Singapore, a full member of the Society of Technical Analysts, United Kingdom (MSTA) and is a Certified Financial Technician (CFTe) from the International Federation of Technical Analysts, USA. He obtained his Master of Philosophy from Multimedia University, Cyberjaya in 2005. Mr. Tam is currently pursuing his PhD in University Malaya.

1996	Obtained Certificate in options and futures from Malaysian Institute of Futures and Options (MIFO) now called SIDC.
2002	Obtained Diploma in Technical Analysis from STA, U.K. (MSTA).
2004	Obtained Certificate of Achievement from Golden Gate University, San Francisco tutored by Professor Hank O. Pruden, Academic Interface and Vice-ChairPerson the Americas, IFTA.
2005	Obtained Master of Philosophy (Management) from MMU, Cyberjaya.
2005	Obtained Certified Financial Technician (CFTe) from IFTA, USA.
2006	Pursuing PhD with University Malaya.

1994 – Author of best-selling book on technical analysis in Malaysia: “Maximizing Stock Market Profit”. Sold: 8,000 copies	1996 – Author of first book on Malaysian stock index futures by a Malaysian: “Understanding KLCI futures”. Sold: 3,000 copies
2001 – Author of first and only Japanese candlestick book by a Malaysian:  “Investing in KLSE stocks and futures with Japanese Candlesticks Techniques”. Sold: 3,000 copies	2007 – This book encapsulate Mr. Tam’s Master thesis and reveal that the KLSE is not a random walk. Of the 13 systems tested on Malaysian stocks, 6 are profitable. These 6 systems are revealed in this book.
2006 – This book shows how Fibonacci ratios can be used to find  supports and resistances, targets in stocks, futures and currencies.	SOFTWARE WRITTEN BY MR. TAM 1997 – Co-developer of “The Candlestick Forecaster” software in partnership with Gary S. Wagner of U.S.A.
